Within a picturesque curve of coastline, 10 miles to the north of Dublin City and only a 15-minute drive from Dublin Airport, Portmarnock Golf Club sits majestically on a narrow tongue of shallow duneland.

No other Irish course has been graced by so many distinguished players in a rich history encompassing a broad sweep of significant events. It is where Arnold Palmer and Sam Snead successfully followed its serpentine route through classic linkland on their way to victory in the 1960 Canada Cup. And it is where another generation of Americans, including Phil Mickelson and David Duval, secured a memorable Walker Cup triumph in 1991.   These events, along with 19 stagings of the European Tour’s Irish Open Championship, reflect the quality of a searching examination across the link’s twenty-seven holes.

Founded in 1885 by Mr. John Lumsden, The Royal Dublin Golf Club is steeped in golfing history and presents a stern golfing examination on a truly magnificent links course and is widely accepted as one of the greatest links courses in the world. The links was originally designed by H.S.Colt, the world famous golf architect from Sunningdale.

The Royal Dublin Golf Club has hosted many Irish championships, starting with the Irish Amateur Open back in 1894. The Royal Dublin Golf Club hosted The Carrolls Irish Open from 1983-1985 with Seve Ballesteros winning in 1983 and 1985 and Bernhard Langer winning in 1984. The Club has also regularly hosted the Irish Amateur Close and the Irish PGA.

Five-star golf”, “a top course”, “challenging but rewarding” are some of the comments made by our visitors after playing the links at The Royal Dublin Golf Club. Our links is a traditional out-and-back design created in 1920 by Harry Colt. In the early 2000’s the Club enlisted links design expert Martin Hawtree to make significant changes which have been widely praised and acknowledged by many. After these changes the links remains challenging for today’s golfer.

The Royal County Down Golf Club was founded in 1889 by a group of influential business and professional men from Belfast

Royal County Down is located in one of the world’s most naturally beautiful links settings in the Murlough Nature Reserve. Against the magnificent backdrop of the Mountains of Mourne, the links stretches along the shores of Dundrum Bay, zigzagging back and forth to provide a different vista from virtually every hole.

After your round, why not enjoy a drink in the Murlough Room, which has views of the 18th green, the 10th tee and the Mountains of Mourne. The bar and dining room offer visiting golfers the opportunity to relax in comfort after their round. A menu which includes both light snacks and more substantial meals, all freshly prepared, is available throughout the day, as is the fully licensed bar.

Ardglass Links

Ardglass 3
Ardglass GC 4
Ardglass GC 5

The story of Ardglass Golf Club and links began in 1896, under the leadership of the Rev Thomas MacAfee. The first incarnation was a 7-hole layout with a total length of less than 1000 yards and shoehorned into the area that is now the 1st and 18th fairways.

Ardglass Golf Course is an 18 hole links course in a natural setting hugging the north-east coast of Ireland, with stunning views, unique golf holes and memorable people.

The course is less than 2 hours from Dublin, under an hour from Belfast and only 30 minutes from the world renowned Royal County Down golf links at Newcastle.

The course is a true test of golf.  With the almost ever-present wind capable of wreaking havoc from any quarter; the hard fairways and the small firm greens, it is just about impossible to play “yardage based” golf on this links.

The Irish Sea, which can be seen from all 18 tees and greens, comes into play on no fewer than 8 holes.  This is just one of the memorable and unique features of the links at Ardglass Golf Club.

The Par 72 Championship Course was designed by famous Dublin Golf Architect Eddie Hackett, who had designed 80 courses. His legacy has matured to one of the finest inland layouts in Ireland.

The Course is situated at the foot of the Mourne Mountains and can be found 2 miles from Kilkeel town centre on the main Newry Road. Only 12 miles from Royal County Down, the Club has played host to the R&A and Senior European Tour having been used as a qualifying Course for the British Amateur and Senior British Opens, also hosting PGA events. Many visitors have commented on the quality of the course, the challenge afforded to golfers of all standards and the friendly atmosphere around the club. Should the golf prove ‘over-challenging’ (as golf sometimes does!) then the spectacular scenery of the Mourne mountains which can be viewed from every tee will provide a memorable and enjoyable experience. Glimpses of the beautiful and historic Carlingford Lough can also be obtained through the many mature trees which separate the fairways.
